1989 Johnson 15 HP Long Shaft Outboard

1989 Johnson Outboard 32” long shaft (transom to tip); ~28” to middle of the propeller Two stroke engine For the right buyer that knows their way around an outboard, this is a steal for a classic motor that needs a bit of TLC. Great for use in sailboats. We had this on our 1971 Ericson 29’ sailboat for a couple of years and then upgraded to a new 9.8HP tohatsu last year. The motor was having a hard time idling and seemed to not be spitting out much water from the coolant system, so I replaced the impeller (which helped a bit but didn’t fully solve the lack of water cycling though the tell tail). I went to a mechanic (Ryan’s Boats) and he diagnosed that it’s likely a small rubber piece that needs to get replaced inside the coolant mechanism, which I purchased but never got around to replacing. I also purchased a new head gasket from him that can be replaced while doing the other repair, as a general maintenance upgrade. Otherwise the motor worked very well for us and is in fair shape. Purchased for $950 and took care of it, did some maintenance, ran at very low RPMs in and out of MDR, and kept it lifted out of the water between usages. I was planning to do the maintenance myself and resell for $950 with tests etc., but I just don’t have the time to do the work. Extras: The motor comes with a 6’ brand new Johnson fuel line and associated 3gal fuel tank with brass fitting. I also have two more 5gal tanks that I will throw in with the motor or sell separately for $10each.
