Description
This is a vintage Chinese porcelain lidded mug featuring hand-painted designs of the "Eight Immortals".The mug, often referred to as a "temple jar lid" style, typically shows scenes of figures in landscape settings. These mugs are frequently listed as "hand painted enamel" designs and were produced in China. The red calligraphy on the lid reads 普天同庆 (pǔ tiān tóng qìng).Literal Translation: "The whole sky (world) celebrates together." It is a traditional Chinese idiom used to describe an occasion where everyone, or the entire nation, joins in celebration of a massive, joyful event (such as a major festival, prosperity, or peace). This auspicious phrase pairs beautifully with the colorful scene of the Eight Immortals depicted on the main body of the mug, which symbolizes longevity, good fortune, and harmony.
