Description
Runs beautifully Mechanically sound Well maintained Original Chris Craft kit boat with original parts Lake and River ready Rare one of a kind Clean titles on boat and trailer New trailer, tires, and wheel bearings Original and unrestored Selling our rare, sleek and spirited 16 foot custom wood 1956 Chris Craft runabout after 23 years of ownership. Our runabout has always resided on the West Coast and has never been stored in the water. The engine is a 1956 mercury outboard and is of an appropriate vintage. She runs beautifully, has electric start and is mechanically sound! Her length is 16 feet with a beam of 6’4” and she weighs approximately 580 pounds. She features a beautiful gleaming mahogany deck with a double cockpit and custom cushioned seating. She is powered by the famous super thunderbolt engine and has electric start. She comes with personalized throw ring, anchor and her original 1956 Chris Craft Burgee. She is rare, sleek, sophisticated, and in excellent running condition. Due to the rarity of our runabout/kit boat, she was featured in the 2001 publication of the Hull Truth, Columbia Willamette Chapter. While kit boats did not come with hull numbers, the number of hulls built from 1956 to 1958 were 1725. She was assembled by a Chris Craft dealer during the off-season in 1956 in Seattle, Washington and originally cost only $397. She is being sold with a single axle trailer with spare tire. Both the trailer and runabout come with clean titles. She is the epitome of timeless elegance and has been historically preserved. To those not familiar with the history of Chris Craft Kit Boats, Chris Craft offered a line of kit boats in the early 1950’s for dealers and prospective boaters. By 1952, kit boat production was so popular, it merited the creation of a new kit boat division within Chris Craft. Chris Craft provided pre-machined and prefabricated wooden parts and materials for easy assembly by the builder, with illustrated step-by-step instructions that were included in each kit. This allowed a dealer or customer to purchase a factory finished boat or to customize a prefabricated kit boat to “customize” on their own. Our boat is not a replica. She is an extraordinary example of a 1950’s luxury, custom designed runabout. She is unique and one of a kind! Own a piece of Chris Craft history!
