Description

Pros: This is a Mamacharri bike from Japan and the built-in kid/toddler seats are fantastic. Both adjust to different heights. This bike has lots of features, including a "cafe wheel lock" to lock the back wheel even if there isn't a bike rack. It's an incredibly fun bike, popular in Japan. Cons: There is a problem with the gear shifting. Gear 1 doesn't work at all, and the bike sometimes shifts between gears 2 & 3 on its own. (You can test ride the bike and you will see what I mean). I had a bike mechanic look at it and he said the gear shifter cable part (I don't remember what it's called, but I can point to it) needs replaced, and the part should be fairly cheap.... And I think you can find the parts on Japanese eBay. BUT the mechanic said it would be a labor-intensive job, as you would need to disassemble most of the bike to replace the part. So this is a project bike, and only a good value for someone who is interested in putting in the repair work. (The sale price reflects the cost of purchasing two used toddler bike seats). Also, there is a really cool built-in front light that used to work--turns on when you pedal --bur didn't seem to be working the last time I tried it....not sure, as it was daytime. Anyway, this has the potential to be fixed up to be a really cool "Momma-bike" but it needs some TLC. Lastly, I recommend it for shorter folks. I'm 5'8" and with the highest seat height, it still felt too small for me, which is the main reason we decided not to try repairing it ourselves. You can come give it a try and decide if this is a project bike for you. I'd love to see it go to a good home.
