Description

I purchased this car a year ago from the original owners who bought it off the dealership lot here in Reidsville. It has the big block 390. I bought it knowing it needed the carburetor fixed/rebuilt. In the original owner’s yard I used gas straight to carb to make sure the engine turned over because I wanted to make sure it wasn’t seized up. It turned over but wouldn’t stay running. After getting it home, and looking into the engine I realized that it doesn’t need much at all to be road ready. As it rolled off the rollback I could see gas under the tank’s position. Climbing under the tank I could see microscopic holes in the gas tank which told me it needs a new gas tank. The body is straight as an arrow the only line that is off is the passenger door but it does not droop. Everything is tight and all doors and windows are snug. There’s hardly any rust whatsoever under the car or panels. The rust spot in the photo is where I was told a storm blew a limb down on the back quarter panel and so they fixed it as you do with bondo which clearly has lived its shelf life. The car needs 4-$500 dollars in parts to be road ready. A new gas tank and sending unit. A new fuel line. The carb needs to be rebuilt. It also needs new tires all around which aren’t included in the $4-500 part estimate. If I had more photo space, I’d show the catalog with the part numbers and dollar amounts. While I initially waited on money to get the bigger priced items, I changed the oil and filter, put new spark plugs in, and installed a new fuel pump. Due to the economy, my family needs the money more than I need the car. It still had the original plastic on the seats when I brought it home. As I removed it, it began to tear the fabric due to the plastic spending its life in the sun and conjoining with the fabric. Under the plastic it was flawless before removal. It has the original car manual as well. Feel free to ask any questions and I’ll answer them to the best of my ability.
