New, handmade modern live edge sofa table made from solid wood that is 3.75 to 4 inches thick. The wood was finished by using the Shou Sugi Ban process. An ancient Japanese method that involves charring the wood, cooling it, cleaning by brushing and washing then finishing the wood. The charring produces a rawness and a realness of character. The wood was torched at a temperature of over 3000 degrees Fahrenheit then carefully sanded down and sealed with a clear sealant to leave it in its natural state. This method brings out the beautiful texture that can’t be achieved without truly weathering for years. The table sits on sturdy metal legs that modernizes the piece. Contemporary yet rustic.
