RARE CAC LENOX BELLEEK FOOTBALL RUGBY SPORTS ANTIQUE BEER STEIN PITCHER Circa 1890’s Authentic Antique Original Old CAC Lenox Belleek Football Rugby Sports Beer Stein Pitcher German Old Antique Offered for your collecting pleasure is this very early Rugby or Football sports stein/mug. The mug was made by Ceramic Art Company. The Ceramic Art Company of Trenton, New Jersey, was founded in 1889 by J. Coxon and Walter Scott Lenox as an Art Pottery and was an early producer of American Belleek porcelain. In 1896 Jonathan Coxon departed and the company continued as the Ceramic Art Company with the word Lenox added beneath the CAC mark. They had 44 employees in 1901. Amongst the potters and decorators they employed around that time was George Heufel from Dresden. In February 1906, the name of the company was changed to Lenox Incorporated. They remain in business today. Everything about this mug bespeaks quality and detail. The mug dates to before 1896 due to the style of mark on the bottom.
