Description
This is a HUGE COMMEMORATIVE COIN from 1977 called the JUBILEE CROWN. It is about the size of the palm of my hand yet only had purchasing value of 25 pence at the time. However many shop owners would not accept ot bc it did not have the monetary value inscribed on the coin itself. These are collector's items and although they were made to be Commemorative, they were considered actual currency. Most people did not spend them though and instead collected and preserved them. This coin is in About Uncirculated condition and still has a nice shine to it. All details are sharp and clear. THE COIN IN THE PHOTO IS THE ACTUAL COIN YOU WILL RECEIVE. The following excerpt is from an article on The Coin Expert site: The 1977 Jubilee crown can be recognised by the depiction of Queen Elizabeth II on horseback on the obverse, or front side, of the coin. Surrounding this image is the inscription: ‘ELIZABETH II DG. REG FD 1977’. On the reverse side of the crown, a decorative coronation insignia is present, although no inscription is visible. Designed by renowned sculpture and artist, Arnold Machin, the coronation insignia shows the ampulla and anointing spoon used in Her Majesty’s coronation, with a crown atop and floral border framing them. This would make a GREAT GIFT or FANTASTIC ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION. Thanks for stopping by.
