My mother recently passed away. She was 96 years old. We lived some distance apart. That, plus the challenges of technology, made communicating with her and coaching her increasingly difficult. Well, I found a remedy that took care of all of that. It's a tablet called the GrandPad. It is designed specifically for seniors. I got one for mom. I set it up as its administrator and shipped it to her. After teaching her what swiping left/right was, and how tapping and touching have different outcomes, she was once again frustration free and securely protected as she returned to enjoying all that she had come to miss. As the device admin, I managed the device remotely by way of the companion app that is provided. I built her friend and medical contacts list. That limits who can call or email the device. I also disabled features that we agreed would not be used, further simplifying things and reducing the visual clutter. Well, mom’s gone, but her GrandPad isn’t. I have it, and it needs to find a new home where it can continue to provide simplified communication and all the mentioned enjoyments to another senior.
