Traveling Man Treasures is selling this stunning handcrafted 1940s-1950s stool/sculpture. This stool has a powerful body that supports an expressive face. The piece is strong with animated features that bring this object to life. The clawed hands and feet that seamlessly morph into the body are features found in skilled Dayak carvings. The stool/stand is carved from a hard and dense wood and in excellent condition. DIMENSIONS: 19.5" H x 10.5" D The Dayak are a fascinating amalgamation of over 200 tribal groups in Central Borneo. Their vibrant culture is steeped in ancient customs, beliefs, and a deep connection to nature. Ancestor worship remains strong to this day. Borneo is a large island in Southeast Asia’s Malay Archipelago; shared by the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, Indonesian Kalimantan and the tiny nation of Brunei. It’s known for its beaches and ancient, bio-diverse rain forest, home to magnificent wildlife including orangutans and clouded leopards.
