Description

Hey. How you doin’? 😅 Life hits hard sometimes. I found myself walking out my front door with little more than my shirt, pants, car, and a job offer. So I had to rebuild my life from scratch. Along the way, I picked up some stuff. ☝️ That LG refrigerator? Yep. This was one of those things. Funny story: apparently life wasn’t done laughing at me yet. I bought this from a guy who told me it worked great. He dropped it off at my house, I plugged it in…and discovered that “works great” apparently means the lights come on. 😂 The refrigerator wasn’t cooling. So now I’m out $600, and my engineering brain for defense contracting decided to take this personally. I did some troubleshooting, broke out the voltmeter, did some research, and figured out the problem appears to be on the main control board. The capacitors controlling the compressor circuit are bad. Did some additional checks, and the compressor itself appears to be good. The system is charged. Everything points back to the control board not giving the compressor the command to do its thing. Naturally, I did more research. Because apparently I don’t know how to just cut my losses like a normal person. 😂 Found the replacement board for under $100. https://offerup.com/redirect/?o=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuc2hvcGppbW15LmNvbS9sZy1yZWZyaWdlcmF0b3ItZWJyNzg2NDM0MDEtbWFpbi1ib2FyZC8/Z2FkX3NvdXJjZT0xJmdhZF9jYW1wYWlnbmlkPTExNTEyNjMzNTgwJmdicmFpZD0wQUFBQUFEeTZBeDJrVzJPNmtYdmhPdVJldUlZSFlmMm5RJmdjbGlkPUNqd0tDQWp3d2ZuVUJoQXRFaXdBZlFwQVlxXzBpWjl3TmkyU2tZbHdmQV8yVmhoVXdXcElxQW5ZNmFiOEE0eHQ3RFNQeS1nUmhnVldFaG9DZU1VUUF2RF9Cd0U= So you’ve got a couple options: 🔧 Buy it and replace the board — potentially an inexpensive way to get a nice LG refrigerator. 🧰 Use it for parts — also perfectly fine. I don’t need it anymore. I wasn’t about to leave my food sitting on the counter for three weeks while I waited to repair a refrigerator, so I bought another one. Now this poor thing is just sitting here waiting for someone who needs it. $100 OBO. The economy is doing its best impression of what our wallet will look like through a wood chipper, so I’m trying my best to pass along something useful rather than let it sit here taking up space. Anyway — here it is. LG refrigerator. Needs the main control board. Compressor appears good. Great repair project or parts unit. If you know what you’re doing with appliances, this could be a pretty inexpensive fridge once that board is replaced.
