Description

Chevrolet 3200 (1/4 ton) Apache – Fully restored, daily driver Small block V8- a 283 cubic inch engine. Turbo 350 automatic transmission with a modern “retro” floor-mounted shifter manufactured by Lokar. Holley four-barrel, down-draft carburetor, and modern electronic distributor. Many of the parts inside the cab are new purchased through “The Truck and Car Shop” in Orange. Truck has been maintained by Scotty’s Automotive in Leucadia. The steering and front end was completely rebuilt by Hot Rods and Custom Stuff in Escondido. This is the car shop “to the stars” who are into hot rods. Expensive, but excellent. They rebuilt the connecting rods, new spindles, reset the geometry that was off causing limited turning radius. They also rebuilt the steering box- an amazing mechanism that allows a Pitman Arm to turn the wheels when you rotate the steering wheel. Wheels sourced from a 1958 Suburban give it an old-school look with the high profile, relatively narrow tires. The wheels are actually set wider than standard with spacers. This was to facilitate the addition of the power steering kit that was added, otherwise there was a potential for the turning radius to be impacted by lack of clearance. On other trucks of this vintage, the wheels are usually set narrower. The added width on this fit gives it a much stronger look. Brakes are old school drums on all four wheels. They do not act like modern disk brakes, so care is needed when carrying a big load. Access to the master cylinder (to fill with fluid) is found below the driver seat. All of the bodywork and paint was done by J&R auto body in San Marcos (Rubin). Tan vinyl upholstery was done by SOS Upholstery in Oceanside. The bed is oak and finished in urethane. Also includes original 1958 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual, and chrome Chevy Apache logo, not currently installed on truck.
