Description

Put this together about 2 months ago with the idea of selling it, then waited to make sure everything rooted and was happy. Has been stable for its whole life, no mold or anything funky. Only 2 plants have been “newly” added a couple weeks ago The rest are established and happy. I’ll try to include as much info as possible in this description but feel free to message with questions! Total size: Jar height: 10.5” Jar radius: 9.5” Lip radius: 8.5” Total height with lid: ~13.75” Plants: Selaginella - placed in at creation, took a 2” pot from plant store, broke it up around the “pond” (how this is made is explained below). Instantly started thriving and growing. May need to be trimmed in the future. Various mosses in different patches. This will slowly creep over the whole ground of the terrarium. It’s slow growing so it will take a while. All the mosses are doing very well as of now thanks to the closed lid. Pink-Veined Nerve Plant (Fittonia Albivenis)- placed in a couple weeks ago as an already rooted plant. It has already started to put out new buds. Loves the humidity. Polka dot plant- 3 cuttings of this placed in at creation of this terrarium. These things grow like weeds and are doing great. Will need to be trimmed in the future. Pink plant- not sure what this is, but it grows like a weed. I have it in a few other terrariums. Just placed these cuttings in a couple weeks ago and they’re already rooted. Soil: combo of coco fiber, black sand, dead sphagnum moss, and pearlite. Thriving colony of spring tails for nutrient regeneration. Isopods or millipedes can be added too if needed. Drainage layer of rock and charcoal. Coco fiber mesh to separate soil from drainage. Plastic cup, cut to shape and soil glued onto the rim to blend in with the surrounding soil, used to make a “pond” in the terrarium to monitor water level.
