Dearest Emma Louise: Your letter received today. Did not think you would write. There is only one thing which I do not understand, and that is at the end of your letter under your signature, you have x's made with pencil. I do not see where they are deleting anything. I don't get it. Went on the tour over the Smokies. Was pretty good. Could have been better. Got a picture of an Indian Chief shooting the bow and arrow. page 2 Did not get many pictures as it was very cloudy. Went on top of the tower a top Clingman's Dome. Was in the clouds so was unable to get any pictures from there. The scenery on both the North Carolina and Tennessee sides were beautiful. Would like to spend the rest of my life in those mountains. The girls are giving me a bad time. They can sure smoke and drink page 3 beer. Had a date the other afternoon with a very nice lady. Spent about four hours with her then are lunch with her. After Lunch we went visiting. Took her home around eight o clock. We both needed some rest. Am going to call her up again in the morning for a possible dinner date tomorrow night. Remember my asking you if you would like to see the picture called the "The Corpse Vanishee"? Well, I saw it the other night and it was one of the spookiest if not the spookiest pictures that I have ever seen. Will tell you all about it when I see you, so you can ____ a night sleep. A lady from Macon Georgia went over the page 5 Smokies with me today. Asked her if she knew the Browns in Macon, and she said she knew Luella, but not personally. She is leaving here Sunday. Hope she travels by train, so I can sit with her. She is fairly old, but nice looking, and very pleasant. It's time for bed so will close by saying that I hope to be home by 9:30 Sunday night.
