Up for sale is a rare complete set of four lithographs of Florida Seminole Chiefs by James Hutchinson. These lithographs were made from the original portrait paintings by Mr. Hutchinson, and printed in 1976 by Hutchinson House Press Inc. Each lithograph was made on specially formulated paper for the ultimate reproduction quality and durability. James Hutchinson was born in 1931 in Fort Pierce, Florida . In the early 1950's he took art instruction from his brother-in-law, the famous Florida landscape painter A.E. Backus, and is a member of the The Indian River School of painters. Today James Hutchinson is a renowned Florida Artist whose work is highly sought after by collectors. He is known worldwide for painting the Florida landscapes and Seminole Indians in their native habitat. While living with Seminoles in the late 1950's and early 1960's, he vividly portrayed the Seminoles in their everyday life. His paintings are highly sought after as they represent a historical document of Seminole Indians in Florida and unspoiled Florida landscape before urbanization. These lithographs depict portraits of four famous Seminole Chiefs: Halpatter Tustenugee (Alligator), Halota Micco (Billy Bowlegs II), Osceola (Powell), and Coacoochee (Wildcat). Each lithograph is 16" wide by 20" high, and the actual image is 12” by 16”.
