Description
The iPod 5th generation (also known as the iPod with Video) with 80GB of storage was released in September 2006. It was a slight upgrade to the original 5th generation iPod, which had a 60GB capacity. Here are some of the key features and specifications of the iPod 5th generation 80GB model: Capacity: 80 GB hard drive, which Apple claimed could hold "up to" 20,000 songs, "up to" 25,000 photos, or "up to" 100 hours of video. Display: A 2.5-inch QVGA (320x240 pixels) color LCD with LED backlight. The 80GB model had a brighter screen than its predecessor. Video Playback: This was the first iPod to support video playback. It could play H.264 and MPEG-4 video formats. Battery Life: The 80GB model had improved battery life compared to the 30GB version, rated for up to 20 hours of music playback and 6.5 hours of video playback. Design: It came in a two-tone housing with either a white or black front and a chromed stainless steel back. The 80GB model was slightly thicker and heavier than the 30GB model. Connectivity: It used the standard Apple 30-pin dock connector and a USB 2.0 port for syncing and charging. It also had a 3.5mm headphone jack. Processor & RAM: It was powered by a PP5021C processor. The 80GB model had 64MB of RAM, which provided better skip protection and allowed for a larger song database. Navigation: It used the iconic Click Wheel for navigation. Software: The enhanced 5th generation iPod (including the 80GB model) introduced a search function and support for movies from the iTunes Store.
