This lens is the latest version of MOMENT’s 1.33x Gold Flare Anamorphic lens. All of MOMENT’s lenses are being upgraded from the older M-Series lenses. The new series features a larger rear element (and mounting ring) allowing for better performance with today’s larger camera systems. Since we’re talking a faster lens with more light and edge-to-edge sharpness, the change is far more than cosmetic! I’m not going to do an article on Anamorphic vs Conventional spherical lenses, but I do want to mention the whole concept of Anamorphic was to make the classic CinemaScope, Panavision, Todd-AO, and multitude of other makes of lens systems more exciting and realistic by simulating the wide-screen “peripheral” vision natural to the two-eyed view natural to humans. Anything to draw more excitement out of the crowds was a boon to the other NATO… the North American Theatre Owners’ association in their fight to the death with broadcast and “Pay TV” networks. The 1.33x Anamorphic lens is endowed with a special layer giving the lens a rich, golden-hued series of flares. The result is a far more Cinematic image that evokes the big-budget Hollywood spectaculars of the 50s and 60s. Note: At a recent family reunion, I found myself spending far less time wrangling everyone into one big group shot… wider was better than fighting your cousin’s four year old closer and closer to make one great big shot! This MOMENT Gold flare Anamorphic lens is reviewed as one of the best out there. Just get the right T-series mounting adapter ( usually $7-16 ) and it’s Lights! Cameras! ACTION!
