Description
Here's your chance to own an award-winning restoration of a fantastic vintage travel trailer. We exhibited our 1979 Avion 7.9h (26') and our 1974 Avion LaGrande (28') travel trailers this past May at Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, MI. It was their 2025 Annual Vintage Boat & Travel Trailer Rally. It was a great turnout in general but where were the Avions this year?? I have to tell you... I had three (3) seasoned Airstream owners admit to me that Avion construction was far superior to Airstream!! We all (Avion owners) believe that as fact and it's easy to dismiss as "legend" when conferring with fellow vintage enthusiasts - but it was too cool having Airstream devotees admit it out loud without prompting!! More than anything I think that is a testament to my wife's talent in bringing our Avions back to life. My wife is the design mastermind behind both of our Avion trailer restorations (see our other ad for the 1974 La Grande for sale)... And now, for your consideration is her 1979 Avion 7.9H (aka 26H). We purchased this trailer a number of years ago and have restored it with a modern twist. She went with a resto-mod (as they say in the classic car biz). She executed a railroad theme to make the interior feel like a classic, luxury passenger rail car suite. • All the original cabinetry/woodwork is intact (except the table). • We upgraded the sink, appliances, and tech. • She made new cushion covers (original fabric still underneath), curtains, and fabric accents. • The head unit was missing the stereo cassette deck and the emergency weather radio. I found both on ebay in vintage mint condition. • She entered the '79 at Gilmore Car Museum Vintage Boat & Travel Trailer show last year (2024) and won top prize - The Gilmore Award!! (You can see the plaque on the dining table.) There are still some things that need to be finished. Among the to-dos: • Connect the salvaged and installed water heater to the water lines. • Run new water lines from water heater to kitchen sink. • Shower floor has a crack that needs to be repaired. • Gas lines should be tested. We connected the new stove but have not tested the lines. • Aluminum shell on the underside needs tacked back into place and buttoned up. The trailer tows beautifully and easily. Brake and marker lights work. Trailer is titled, registered, and plated in State of Michigan. Pay terms: Cashier's Check, Zelle, PayPal, Venmo, or Apple Pay only. Come take a look - you'll fall in love!
