Made out of the high quality components  2.2 mm 316L stainless steel Tig welding rod used for the tail loop end and .045 in stainless steel wire for the legs. Legs are made out Stainless Steel wire which are bended to achieve desired spider shape, which  you can easily modify with a pair of pliers to suit your needs (cut down to a smaller length for easier retrieval or put a small bend on the tip of the legs for even better holding strength) These lead  sinkers can be casted a long way and still hold on the bottom very good if properly used.(Up Tide fishing) Work real well when casting  larger baits or when fishing with a rod that can't handle casting  a heavier pyramid weight that's typically used under tidal more turbulent conditions. It's stainless steel legs lock in place and bury themselves anchoring the bottom especially well on sandy and muddy bottoms on turbulent and tidal conditions and release under pressure such as when a fish hits or when you decide to reel it in and let's not forget if your line gets heavily loaded with seaweed or trash. At certain times a Sputnik/Spider weight is the best option for holding bottom with your bait. When ready to retrieve your sinker/rig combination simply reel up any slack on your rod/reel apply pulling pressure and the legs will snap/break free allowing for easy retrieval. As with anything else there is a learning curve with these sinkers
