Description
Japanese Style Bed Minimalist Inspired Design That Balances Modern Styling with Function and Form Much of classical Japanese bed design is characterized by the principles of simplicity, elegance, and the Zen aspect of harmony with nature, all essential components found in many of our Japanese platform beds. Traditionally, Japanese beds were Tatami straw mats upon which were laid cotton pads or blankets. Japanese beds both traditionally and also in modern designs are often low to the ground, and simple in style and adornment. In addition, as the judicious use of space is essential in the Japanese home, furniture was created to maximize the sleeping space while at the same time taking up a small footprint in the room. Beds were often created with simple headboards or often with no headboard, and with side rails and foot rails made of lesser width. All of these features help create the look and feel of balance, simplicity, and harmony.
