Staffordshire England 1950s Bygone Days Horse & Tavern Scenes Set Of 8 Plates 8 bread & butter plates with whimsical country tavern & riding scenes, straight from the English countryside. Very likely made by Alfred Meakin, a Staffordshire pottery known for export wares with this look and feel. The impressed “B” on the back matches their mid-century mold marks. Set includes: - 4 plates with weary traveler & a packhorse - 4 plates with tavern traveling stop Good vintage condition consistent with its age. Pictures are part of the description, please check them & let me know if you require additional ones. Defects & imperfections - please check pictures made under the bright light & magnification: - one plate has small chipping on the bottom side of the rim - can’t be seen from the front - all over crazing - part of plates’ vintage charm - some plates show gray spotting or smudges on the back, kiln marks or storage staining absorbed into the crazing. Cosmetic only, not visible from the front when in use. - some plates have a visible gray transfer smear above the scene — likely a factory slip. Blends into the crazing but noticeable on close look.
