[Note: This guitar is pending sale as of 6/28/2025] We have here a 30-year old Fender Stratocaster, which honestly blows my mind as this guitar hit the store right towards the end of the Grunge era. So now I feel super old too. That aside, I am the second owner of this guitar across the last 15 years. I’m only selling it since I have another Fender American Standard Stratocaster in black, so this has become redundant within my array. If you know about the Fender Squier Series line between 1(contact info removed) (and a little of 1997), there is a very high likelihood that the wooden parts (eg: body & neck) were manufactured in Fender’s Corona, CA facility due to the Ensenada, MX manufacturing plant fire - especially serial numbers dating between mid-1994 to 1995. This isn’t myth.; this is fact, as I have friends at Fender today who confirmed the long hours they had to pull back then just to supplement Ensenada with bodies and necks since they didn’t have a functioning manufacturing facility at the time. So yes, these guitars stand a very good chance, if not simply guaranteed to have USA manufactured bodies and necks. That unnecessary detour aside, the tuning machines installed are Fender’s own Standard Tuners found on most of their models today. The wiring harness was rebuilt using CTS 250k pots with vintage cloth solid core wire. I used a Sprague Orange Drop .022uf tone cap as well. The 5-way blade switch is an Oak-Grigsby, wired in a standard Stratocaster fashion. The pickguard is a 3-ply white pearloid guard over a black finish to give it that snazzy tuxedo effect. In addition, I replaced the generic vibrato bridge that came with a small, thin block with a big block Fender bridge for more punch and sustain. I also wired in a set of Guitar Fetish’s GFS ’64 Staggered Pole Grey Bottom pickups, while also adding a copper baseplate beneath the bridge for a little more focused attack. Trust me - baseplates help a Strat’s bridge pickup enormously. This guitar has been played, but the frets are still awesome. There is some natural patina on the cowboy section of the fingerboard due to decades of fingernail rub, which is often a premium enhancement found on factory relic’d guitars. It looks cool to me, and at least it’s genuine. It has basically become the Strat of Strats, and unapologetically so. Now onto the glaring issue for those curious and/or justifiably skeptical: 1995 Fender production serial numbers are not all entered into Fender’s database. In fact, most still aren’t. I’ve tried many serials to little avail, including many of my own guitars. So take that as you will for those Redditers who often ask “is this real”. I can assure you and am happy to prove that it is. Asking $500 obo, no sales tax as I’m a private seller. Sold *AS-IS* (because I’m not a store with equity for returns). Pickup in Burbank. Exciting trades considered. Guitar only with no case or bag. No other parts, accessories, or manuals/literature are included. Answers to satisfy most thoughts and questions: * No, I’m not hard-up for rent money. * No, I don’t need drug money. * No, I’ve not fallen on hard times. * No, I am not really interested in trading down, including for multiple lower value goods (eg: a bunch of Squiers) * Yes, I absolutely wait patiently for the right buyer. * Yes, offering half my listing price (or less than) can be viewed as insulting without any sort of reasoning behind it. * I compare my prices against all closing prices (not listing prices) through eBay, Reverb, and Guitar Center then price below that. * Erik Clappington ⅡI would love this guitar and also you too. * Yes, I can sniff out a reseller. If I wanted to hock my gear, I’d have sold it to a store or pawn shop already. * As unpleasant as much of the above may have read, it was mostly directed at a specific kind of bottom-feeder lurking the service. If you’ve sold on classifieds sites before, you know the type. I’m usually known to be a chill guy, and maintain perfect ratings across all services. Feel free to message me, even if it’s to only say “hello”.
