My father was living in Texas prior to the pandemic. He bought the car in Texas around 2019. We don’t have much history prior to his purchase, other than the car had been in an accident and the airbags did deploy, so it has no airbags, but the car is running great. My father purchased it and used it as his daily driver until, in 2022, he decided to permanently relocate abroad, and he left his car under my care. When he travels to the US, he takes the car back and forth between Texas and Florida to visit his children that live in those two states. Now, he has decided to sell the car. I’m an engineer and BMW enthusiast, when he brought the car to Florida in 2020, I took the time to replace all operating fluids. While the car has been in my care, I drive it once every two weeks or so. Never has the car left me stranded or not started. It has been a very reliable vehicle, multiple trips between Florida and Texas without any issues. I would not hesitate to drive this car to Texas today. The engine in this car is considered one of the most reliable engines made by BMW, and this engine can easily make it over 200K miles with the proper maintenance. I keep the car under a cover so the sun doesn’t beat the car so hard. The car presents well. The Bad: -Fields BMW in October of 2025 inspected the car and found that the motor mounts need to be replaced, and that the oil pan gasket is leaking. I would think that anyone who buys this car should address these two things at the same time. So, check with your local mechanic for pricing before you purchase the car. -I think I hear a suspension noise from the front right corner of the car. Haven’t had a shop diagnose it either. -Headliner is sagging. The headliner material on the sunroof panel is falling apart. Sunroof opens and closes fine. -Unfortunately the door handles on these cars have this sticky material that eventually degrades, comes loose, and sticks to your hands. I have put electrical tape on the rear door handles to prevent your hands from getting that material on them, it’s not very pretty to look at, but it works. You may be able to replace the door handles, but it works fine for us with the tape. You could put black tape on top of the current tape and it will look a little better. -Fault codes during the last reading I took, many of them are related to sensing the speed from the DSC module, so I think the DSC module is not functioning properly: CAS: Code relating to absence of speed sensor signal. ECU: Code relating to absence of speed sensor signal. Also it says the water pump coolant is missing, though the car doesn’t have any cooling system issues and it has never overheated. It also has an air mass system code. I haven’t tried to understand what this is about, but it doesn’t affect day-to-day driving. It runs great as-is. Transmission: It says that the oil is worn, but I drained and filled the fluid 25K miles ago. It also has error codes related to the speed sensors (DSC) DSC: Says that it cannot read speed from two wheels. I think the module is bad. AIRBAG: Missing speed sensor signal. FRM: This error says no communication with the mirrors, I don’t know what the issue is because I can move both mirrors with no problem. -Because the DSC (stability control module) is not reading the speed sensors properly, ABS, cruise control, and traction control are inoperative. -Tire pressure light is on because the DSC speed readings are needed to sense the tire pressure. This is why we use an aftermarket tire pressure measuring system. -ISTA will not connect to the car, but my handheld Foxwell BMW scanner does. -The paint has peeled off in a couple of places on the hood. I’m not sure why. -The fuel gauge doesn’t work well below half-tank. It can move around a lot. I have resolved this issue by simply filling up the tank when it hits 1/2 tank. -Driver’s airbag is missing. -When you break, the side markers come on (they should be coming on for turning signals only). -Driver’s side A/C vent cannot be adjusted. -Front driver side sunroof drain clogged
