Description
This is going to be an extremely detailed listing, so strap in. VIN, February 2024 post-purchase inspection report and recommendations, and maintenance records can be made available to serious inquiries. 2005 Toyota Tundra SR5 Double Cab RWD TRD Off Road and Towing packages iForce 4.7L V8 ~215,000 miles (will change) Exterior: Silver Sky Metallic (1D6), original. Shows well in places but the truck was stored outdoors in the sunny San Fernando Valley for a time by the original owner, and while it would be fine for a work truck, you should plan for paint if you want to show it off. (I was planning to go with Voodoo Blue.) Also needs some bodywork to repair scratches, scrapes, and dents. Interior: Cloth, gray, original. In good condition for its age with one small tear on the driver’s seat bolster at the ingress/egress wear point. I would rate as average for its age. NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NO TPMS LIGHT! EVERYTHING WORKS! Very low rust, lifelong California truck. Frame in excellent condition, I can only find a few scattered spots of surface rust. Ready for the next 200,000 miles. 1 owner until 2024! Have most service records going back to 2005 including the original window sticker and even its first oil change! Many service visits are documented, but a few are missing and/or were not reported to Carfax. Still, very impressive how thorough this truck’s records are for its age. (Part of why I bought it.) PLEASE NOTE: This listing is only to help me decide whether to sell it locally before I move, or ship it to where I’m moving. I would rather keep it unless it makes too much sense to sell. Therefore, serious offers only, low ball offers will NOT be considered! Price is negotiable but fairly firm. I bought this planning to restore it and keep it forever: new paint, new leather seats, everything. I’ve spent a lot of money on it already and have been looking forward to taking things even further, but I unfortunately have to move out of state on very short notice, which has me reluctantly considering selling so it can stay here in California and never get ruined by Midwestern salt and rust. My loss could be your gain. If you know these trucks you know they will run forever if you take care of them, which is exactly what I’ve been trying to do. One of Toyota’s most legendary engines, and none of the hybrid nonsense people seem to dislike about the latest generation. Currently waiting for the title to arrive from DMV. See image in gallery reflecting that I’ve requested a copy (since the original never arrived after I registered it). Full disclosure: I had a post-purchase inspection done in San Diego on February 14. They recommended the following: (1) timing belt replacement*; (2) brake fluid exchange; (3) power steering fluid exchange; (4) front and rear shock replacement [DONE 3/11/24]; (5) replace both valve cover gaskets and spark plugs; (6) replace rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders, and drums; and (7) replace tail shaft seal and service transmission. Everything else passed with flying colors. *The shop didn’t have access to the records, but I confirmed via text with the prior owner today (5/25/24) that the timing belt was replaced at 175,000 miles, only 40k ago, which is also documented by a service record. Here’s everything I’ve done already, spending $2500+ since January: 5/24/24: Tires rebalanced at 214,750 miles (America’s Tire reported their balance machine might have been malfunctioning during the 4/30 appointment so they rebalanced the tires to correct it) 4/30/24: Tires rotated and rebalanced at 214,099 miles 4/07/24: High-mileage full synthetic oil change at 213,159 miles 3/15/24: Replaced headlights and fog lights (old ones were foggy and didn’t clear up well even with elbow grease and chemicals) 3/13/24: Professionally installed 7” touchscreen Alpine head unit with CarPlay and Android Auto at 211,907 miles, which absolutely transformed the sound system. Sounds GREAT for a 2005. 3/12/24: Purchased and cut two new keys, using genuine Toyota blanks at dealership 3/11/24: Replaced all four shocks with new Bilstein 4600’s at 211,778 miles 3/10/24: Removed, repaired, and reinstalled JBL woofer speakers using new surrounds. The speakers sounded blown out when I first bought it, but this simple DIY repair brought them back to life! 2/14/24: Passed smog at 210,377 miles 2/10/24: Installed one new Corsa Highway Terrain Plus 2 spare tire 1/31/24: Replaced passenger door mirror assembly and tailgate handle assembly 1/27/24: High-mileage full synthetic oil change at 208,394 miles 1/24/24: Installed four new Bridgestone Blizzak 265/70R16 tires and four new TPMS sensors at 208,175 miles 1/20/24: Purchased from original owner at appx. 207,000 miles The prior owner paid for a full rack and pinion steering replacement in 2022, a bill over $1000. I had a longer description written but OfferUp won’t even let me paste it all in, so it has to be cut off here!
