I found this place on the app OfferUp where I found a nice pictured 2012 Audi A6 listed for sale. The condition of the car was listed as "Excellent" and the description didn't say much about the car other than catch phrases describing a luxury car, so I reached out for specific details about the car, like the VIN, and got the response, something to the effect of "all details are in the posting," though the posting had no specific details of features the car would come with nor a VIN. I went to NVN Auto's address the following morning on Sunday because Google shows their hours to be 9am-5pm, but when I arrived there was a sign on the door that says “by appointment only.” I had also hoped to see the car there so I could get the VIN myself but the car wasn’t there. I reached out before going there as well as while I was there but didn't hear back so I went home. I had to return the next day, when Vadim would be available.

When I returned on Monday, Vadim drove up in the Audi that I was looking to buy (apparently this "company" has different locations they keep their cars). I wanted to take it for a test drive, but Vadim only let me make right-turns around the block, which didn't allow me to take it on the freeway. I bought it anyways for the $9499 price because it drove smoothly around the block and NVN Auto Group’s online reviews were all excellent.

Upon driving home, there was a very obvious shaking from the suspension when exceeding 60mph (hence the reason Vadim likely didn't want me to drive very far on the test drive). I took the car to an Audi Service Center and the service advisor looked it over and said three of the four tires were different types and some weren't the right size for that car. To fix that problem, I had to replace all four tires for $1600 w/mount and balance.

They also mentioned the lower control arms would be in need of replacing, quoted at $2531 and the valve cover and upper timing cover would need resealing to prevent continued oil leaks, quoted at $1194 and $2508.

I noticed while driving the car that the A/C wasn't very strong so I checked the cabin air filter and it was so packed with dirt and debris I don't think it was changed for the life of the car. I changed that myself as well as checked the engine air filter and that needed replacing too so I changed that myself as well (parts for those two items totaled near $50). I texted Vadim about the wrong size tires and the filthy air filters and got the response "I mean its a used car typically its normal stuff we see on those cars We make sure tires itself in decent shape," as though wrong size tires and filthy air filters should be expected when buying a used car. I asked if the oil had been changed recently and got the response "I would say you should be fine for at least 1-2k miles on oil change. I would say its not necessary yet."

I also determined one of the rear seat seatbelts doesn't work and the MMI display is faulty and sometimes doesn't come on. One of the visor clips is broken and a piece of the rear center seat is completely broken. The car had tinted windows on all windows except the front, however the rear window was completely distorted and was unable to be seen through so I had to get that fixed for $150.

One of the charges on the invoice for the vehicle's purchase was a $549 “Documentary Fee” which “represents costs and profit to the dealer for items such as inspecting, cleaning, adjusting vehicles, and preparing documents related to the sale” but it seems all that was done to "prepare the car for sale" was a smog check, and that cost is also passed on to the buyer.

I don’t drive the car very much, but the condition being listed as “Excellent” turned out to be false. I would’ve described the condition as Fair/In need of repairs. I would caution anyone looking to buy a car from NVN Auto Group to get the car inspected ahead of time. I didn’t do that because Audi charges $295 for that service and NVN Auto Group had such great reviews, but I later called Ted Wiens Auto Center and they perform that service for $19.99.

What sold me was their no-haggle pricing for the vehicles. It was already competitive, and I didn’t have to go back and forth. I value my time, and they clearly do too. Best car-dealership company!
