This is an automatic litter box that uses clumping litter and automatically filters waste into a bin below the box automatically after your cat dies its business. It's 100% brilliant with the following exceptions: a) if your cat is overly large (mine is a whopping 25#), this would not be a good fit b) it must be used with a clay clumping cat litter. The corn, nut hull, and grass seed litters do not work well with this unit. They tend not to soak up the liquid wastes fast enough, and then the waste sticks to the silicone pan. This ultimately would have been amazing for my 2 normal sized cats, but my elderly dog decided that she wanted to include cat poop in her diet, so I had to switch to the organic litters, which did not work in the AmiCat. I bought this when it was still in Kickstarter, and I waited anxiously for almost 3 years, and it's brilliant! There's no smell with multiple cats, and you only have to empty the bin once a week. It's super quiet and terrifically low maintenance. I used it for about 3 months, and this unit is in excellent condition. I also have 2 additional filters for the unit. I originally paid 450$ for it.
