Rare Special Ranger badge. Antique badge of the Texas and southwestern cattle raisers association founded in 1877. Became peace officers in 1893. So this badge dates circa 1877 to 1893. Original metal badge has five points in a ship like a star. There is a steer head with horns in the middle of the front of the badge and it reads special Ranger over the head and Texas and SW cattle raisers assoc. Below the head. Badge measures approximately 3 inches across. The back of the badge has an old-school pin. I've never seen one of these. They are very rare. Complete with Pedegree and case. A piece of fabulous Texas history.
