Description
For sale is a very cool 1928-B $1 "Funnyback" Silver Certificate. Silver Certificates was a type of old currency where any person could take the Certificate into a Federal Reserve Bank and exchange the Certificate for the value of that denomination in silver. So if you have a $1 Silver Certificate, the bank would exchange it for $1 worth of silver. You could also spend it just like any other US bill. They call this type the "funnyback" because of the type of reverse of the bill that is different than the reverse on today's $1 bill. People who are unfamiliar with it think the reverse "looks funny"--hence the reason for the name "funnyback." The seal on the note is blue. As you can see from the pics this certificate is in good condition, and it would be considered average circulated. The blue colors on the front and deep greens on the reverse are fairly bold and vibrant, and the white background is darker white, but still decent. The note does have horizontal and vertical folds to it, but has no major rips, tears, or major staining. This is a great vintage note to add to to any currency collection. Please email me with questions or interest. Thanks!
