Description
Jbl Studio 590 speakers. Adult owned. $750 for both. Regular price $999 each. Information shown in pictures from JBL website. Lots of reviews online. World class JBL compression driver AND house shaking, powerful gut wrenching bass output extending into the mid 20 hertz range. Guess what the next JBL speaker with a compression driver costs? Yup, $5,000 for a pair of the Synthesis 4429 Studio Montiors- with bass that rolls off at about 45 hz! The Synthesis 4306 had compression horns but they were 6 db down @ 50hz. What a bargain the 590 is. I took my Velodyne DLS-5000R subs out of the system since they could not even be heard with the 590's. These speakers are an amazing achievement. Get a pair before they are discontinued. The only speaker I have owned with this level of bass output were larger with dual 12 inch woofers, cost twice as much, yet lacked the 590's finesse and realism. You can hear texture in male and female vocals that is just scary. How JBL is able to get such massive bass using dual 8 inch woofers I'll never know. Magic? These are fairly tall but the footprint is not much larger than other 8 inch towers. Everyone who sees them has the same response: WOW, what are those? They are gorgeous indeed. They are the best sounding speakers I have ever owned, that includes the B&W 801s. A sine wave sweep down to 20 hertz pressurizes my 16 by 22 foot room to unbearable levels, cleanly, especially from 40 to 25 hertz.
