From the famous French Massier Dynasty, this “Frog pulling Snail Shell on a lilypad” ceramic made by the founder. Most all of his authentic piece are selling over $1,000 check him out, google Clement Massier marks. But don’t be fooled by the fake marks 🧐 Note: we have 4 pieces available, sold separately. You will find many famous artist made different renditions of this whimsical majolica style, piece throughout the past 100 years after the passing of Clement Massier. This piece however stands alone for it time. The Massier family, a dynasty of potters dating back to before the French Revolution, played a key role in the revival of pottery in Vallauris. Clément Massier is regarded as the founder in the early twentieth century of the modern ceramics industry in Vallauris. With a natural creativity, Clément Massier (1844-1917) first worked with his father Jacques (1801-1871) in 1856. The Massier family have been ceramists, potters and sculpturs in clay and porcelain since 1707. After a break of three generations, in 2007 Cédric started as a ceramique artist returning the name of Massier to the world of ceramics and continues their family tradition by being a leader in innovations ceramic.
