Description
Traveling Man Treasures is selling these magnificent 1920s Bradley & Hubbard cast iron Egyptian Tomb bookends. These collectible bookends are in very good condition with some minor wear to the paint along the top edge of one piece (as shown). Bradley & Hubbard produced the finest quality collectible metalware of the late 19th and early 20th century. These bookends were made during the height of the “Egyptian Revival Period” after the discovery of King Tut’s tomb in 1922. These are cast iron with a chocolate brown finish; and although unmarked, they are listed in “Collectors Encyclopedia of Bookends” by Kuritzky as being Bradley & Hubbard. Entitled “Egyptian Tomb,” each bookend depicts a tomb with a false door covered in hieroglyphics below a winged solar disc protected by snakes. The back panels can be removed and were meant to be able to store valuables. DIMENSIONS: 6.5” H x 5.75” W x 2.25” D
