Description
This is a vintage South Bend No. 359 - 9' 3/2 for a 6 weight line. The rod is in very good-excellent condition, ready to fish or display. Straight as an arrow, no rust or corrosion as it’s been properly stored. All sections are full length and no repairs have ever needed to be been made. All original. The ferrules are in good shape and fit together nicely. Perfection tool hardened Snake and Tip Guides. The ventilated "comficient" cork is in good shape and still retains most of its "Comficient Grip" sticker on the thumb rest. The aluminum reel seat is also in great shape. The South Bend decal on the butt section is 99% intact. Richly tempered cane with black wraps. Agate stripping guide. Medium action. Rod comes with bag and tube with cap. Circa mid-late 1940s, South Bend rods gained popularity after troops returned home from WWII they were commonly known as the classic "blue-collar" fly rod because the average Joe could afford one. Great for large trout or it has the backbone to pull bass out of the weeds, yet flexible and sensitive enough to have a blast catching pan-fish! I don’t fly fish, so I would love to see it go to someone that has that skill set and appreciates the craftsmanship of this classic bamboo rod. Will consider all reasonable offers, no lowballs. Let me know if you have any questions, thanks for looking. Enjoy your day! Rod Specs: Line: 6 Length: 9' Pieces: 3 Tips: 2 Weight: 5.40 oz
