Description

The artist of the painting "Sierra Nevadas" is Albert Bierstadt, born in 1830 and died in 1902. He was a German-American painter best known for his large landscapes of the American West. Bierstadt's style blended realism and idealism, with meticulous detail and dramatic use of light and shadow. He is considered one of the most successful painters of the Hudson River School. His works often depicted the grandeur of nature and are credited with inspiring tourism and influencing the protection of places like Yosemite as national parks. Bierstadt used a special flake graphite paint that doesn't mix with oil.
