I recently bought a 1966 mustang coupe. Right off the bat the car needed to stay at MGM for reasons I could not clearly understand. They kept saying it needs minor work turn signals and carb adjustment. In what world a 1157 bulbs and a 4 barrel adjustment takes a week is anyone’s guess. That was clue one I was about to go on a ride.

First 20 min with the car as we load it on the flatbed we notice coolant leaking from the radiator drain and then suddenly in tightening it shoots out coolant all over the lot. So we take it to a local friends shop as it was just a drain valve and they put a new plug in and coolant. Why a car from MGM would have a wrong drain fastener after they performed coolant system work prior to pick up is beyond me.

Then in the first hour we come to find the blower motor doesn’t work

The AC is not charged as it was advertised it has a working AC system

The engine leaked a 1/4 quart of oil a day from the front and rear seal

The trans leaks from the rear seal.The radiator is filled with metal chunks

The thermostat they say they changed which I firmly believe was not, is a 160f that car calls from a 190f thermostat. It was also put in backwards. The door key is not for the car just opens the trunk.

The right turn signal and brake light that was “changed” was not working at the point of taking delivery.

This is just the first weekend with the car.

Later in the week come to find, the front bumper is missing 3 bolts, the rear sway bar link is binding against the axle and not bolted in, the carburetor has many things wrong with it, the electric cooling fan is hard wired in, and the brake dust shield on the front left was spinning freely and not bolted in place.

I paid all in 37k for a Mustang coupe I believed was road worthy not overheating or leaking fluid. I essentially bought a good looking garage queen for now. I went to MGM to not get screwed on market place from some guy. I got screwed!

I don’t know what the inspection process is like at mgm but you guys are the pros if I can find this in a weekend you guys should do much better.

I tried to work with MGM to not write a review of one star to give them a chance. So far no support.

I paid over 800 for inspection and over 800 in reconditioning fees which are merely to get more money no actual inspection or reconditioning actually occurs. I will follow up my review if they do actually do the right honest thing with an update. AS FOR NOW I STRONGLY RECOMMEND AND INSIST YOU STAY CLEAR AND FIND A MORE HONEST DEALER FOR YOUR CLASSIC DREAM CAR. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE.

Outstanding experience with MGM and Earl!  I have been chasing a 1969 Mach 1 my whole life.  I am active duty Army and bought my mustang from overseas and had it shipped to my home of record in Washington State without any issues. I didn’t tell my wife I bought this.  I thought she was gonna divorce me when she found out,  but all is well.

It took about a month from the time I decided to buy,  get the bank to loan me money,  process the funds, mgm tendered the truck company to ship.  All that said,  MGM and especially Earl are very responsive and incredibly professional.  Highly recommend them,  I plan on buying from them again.  But am going to tell my wife first next time.
