I have a bunch of tubs of pipe dope (various brands but mostly Blue Monster [the expensive stuff]). All of them are well made high quality industrial grade. They came from the Follansbee coke plant.. where after the closing they were just going to be thrown away so I was allowed to take them….it has just unfortunately taken me a while to get to them to make this post. The tubs vary between half to completely full though most are either full or atleast 3/4 minimum. Most have been used atleast once, though there are a few that have never been used. The tubs themselves aren’t necessarily in the best shape as they would get knocked & thrown around at the plant as well as after I acquired them they weren’t kept in the cleanest most delicate area however the contents of the containers are all completely good & usable. I don’t know an exact date of when they were made (also it would vary from each one) but I can attest to them all being atleast 3 years old… which in case your unfamiliar; pipe dope is still good as long as it’s still moist & spreadable as well as as long as it still retains its ability to dry in an appropriate manor to its correct consistency thereby filling the thread gaps & making a correct seal (which all of these still fit those standards). Most of them are all standard however their are 1 or 2 of them that are locktight pipe dope (which is pipe dope that has the added benefit of having locktight added) these can also be used as regular locktight for nuts & bolts.. however it’s fairly strong so keep that in mind if using for that purpose. I don’t need them as I already have more than enough pipe dope and they’re currently taking up much needed space but I hate the idea of things being wasted which is why I would much rather try and help others out & save others some money. Therefore I’m not asking for anything… if you would like to throw me some money like as a donation obviously I would greatly appreciate it but I am not asking for anything. Also I’m not asking for anyone to come and just grab them all (theirs quite a bit for one person to use even if they do the work daily let alone for someone to just have) therefore I would much rather you take what you need and can actually use that way hopefully more people will be able to be helped as well as it will all actually get used rather than just sitting until it dries up (which varies by brand etc but generally speaking takes several years atleast).
