This lens can capture photos with a stunningly thin depth of field (DOF). As an f/1.4 85mm lens, it offers excellent perspective compression and immaculate, creamy bokeh. For this particular lens, Nikon employed its Close-Range Correction system (CRC), which independently spaces lens elements to minimize aberrations at close-focus distances. This drastically improves performances for portraits and close-ups. As with all Nikon NIKKOR lenses, this lens is constructed to be rock solid. It is precision-machined from aluminum and brass, with all text and markings engraved and painted. This particular example has been well-cared for, with minimal nicks and scratches on the exterior, and no damage to the glass or the anti-reflective coatings. The helicoid is smooth and damped, without any perceivable backlash or play.
