Description
This DL-1000 is a great bike, however if you’re shorter than 5’8”, maybe look for a bike w more friendly seat height. I’m 5’8”, and although im getting used to it, it’s taken a little while, and as much as I wanted a dual sport, I’m just not as comfortable on this kind of bike as I am on an HD cruiser style. She’s quick-fast, as compared to my Heritage or Sporty. thay were both fast, just not as quick as the DL’s acceleration. I’m the third owner. The last owner got it with about 7k and mostly toured around the country on it, so mostly open road mileage! When I got it, it was at 24.5k, and I’ve been running it around SoCal, and commuting and it still only has little over 26k. I tried to picture the bike as honestly as possible. Here’s the facts, as I know them: 1. The bike is red, but the fella I got it from applied dark charcoal wrap, so it presents as a nice flat black/charcoal, etc. 2. She’s got some scratches and such on the barkbusters. I’ve not been off-road on it, but the previous owner said he did a little mild off-roading through his travels. 3. It has all 3 hard cases, and all are in good, fully functional shape. 4. The dual exhaust is a custom system and sounds f’n great (for a non HD 😉) 5. Custom bottom plate guard and side rail guards. 6. Upgraded suspension and there’s some fancy ignition add on that seems to control engine parameters in real time. 7. Upgraded fairing/windsheild, as well as custom bars. There’s an array that shows realtime voltages and has the lighter socket and the hookup for heated gear of some kind, I believe. 8. I’ve changed the oil a couple times and have been cleaning and lubricating the chain/sprockets. There’s a little oil leak, but I’ve never had to add any oil between changes, or at all, other than changes. 9. New(less than a year) 50/50 rear tire and front tire looks good to go for the foreseeable future. 10. I acquired a nice Saddleman touring seat for it, but I’d have to wear a pair of my wife’s heels if I were have any chance of touching the ground. I’m sure we can work something out for it, it’s really nice, and comfortable, just puts the seat ht into the realm of total impossibly for me. 11. Really strong runner, starts up just fine, every time. There’s 26,795 as of 09.01.24, but I’ll be riding it in the interim, but prob less than 25mi a week or so. 12. It’s registered for ‘25, and I have the clear title, but haven’t put it in my name yet. I’ll be doing that this week(it bums me out that it’s Registered for the year, but they still want $300 for the transfer, but that’s the DMV, I would expect no less)
