Description

2017 Egyptian 50 Piastres Banknote Pharaoh Ramses II Front Al Azhar Mosque Back. The image shows an Egyptian 50 piastres banknote. The note is dated January 8, 2017 (2017/1/8). It features the statue of Ramses II and a pharaonic boat. On the obverse, the banknote has the words "Central Bank of Egypt" in English and Arabic, along with "FIFTY PIASTRES" and the number "50" in two places. The reverse side depicts a pharaonic boat and other ancient Egyptian motifs. The banknote includes both Arabic and English text, with Arabic numerals on the front and Western Arabic numerals on the back. The note is signed by Tarek Hassan Amer, the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (Al-Bank Al-Markazi Al-Masri), and dated 2017/1/8 (2017-01-08) according to the Hijri and Gregorian calendars. The Egyptian pound (EGP) is the official currency of Egypt, and it is divided into 100 piastres. The Ramses II note, specifically the 50 Piastres banknote from Egypt, was first issued in 1967. It is part of the withdrawn Egyptian Pound Banknotes series. The Central Bank of Egypt started issuing these 0.5 Egyptian Pound banknotes in 1967, and they were withdrawn from circulation in 2015. The note features an image of Ramses II, who reigned from 1279 to 1213 BCE. Based on the image, the 50 Piastres banknote featuring Ramses II appears to be in good condition. The note is clean, with no visible tears, creases, or stains. The colors are vibrant, and the details are sharp, suggesting it has been well-preserved.
