Description
Beautiful classic all-metal zigzag sewing machine made in Japan by Brother in 1957. This machine has some of my favorite features including an LMR needle position selector, and a reverse lever that allows you to stitch in reverse with both hands free to guide the fabric. It also features built-in embroidery pattern cams. The 7 primary patterns are pictured on the brass badge on the front of the pillar, but there are also combination options between each numbered selection, for a total of 13 different patterns in addition to simple zigzag and straight stitch options. Additionally the knob on the front can be used to free-hand custom embroidery patterns as you sew. The all metal construction of this machine means it will last forever with simple lubrication maintenance. The side loading vertical hook system produces beautiful, even stitches (more even than later front-loading systems that were implemented to allow for twin-needle sewing). The original carrying case with leather trim is in good condition and features a matching fold out leaf for more working area and a matching foot controller. The original motor is still running strong and doesn’t smell burnt. This beautiful classic machine is a rare find and would be equally valuable as a collectible or as an everyday workhorse.
