The Apple II Plus is the second model of the series, discontinued in 1982. The Apple IIe is the third model, discontinued in 1993. While early Apple II models used ordinary cassette tapes as storage devices, they were superseded in 1978 by the introduction of 51/4 inch floppy disk drive, designed by Wozniak. Together they gained fame and wealth with The Apple II as one of the first highly successful mass-produced microcomputers.
