Description
This is a delightful early 20th century Anglo-Indian sculpture depicting a small herd of seven elephants crossing over a bridge of water. The elephants are of graduated sizes and hand-carved from fine ebonized teak, the intricate nature of the elephants and abstract nature of the flowing water below them showcases the craftsman's true artisan skills. There are a few missing tusks (as shown in the photos) but the rest of the sculpture is in fine condition for its 120+ years. This piece was made in India (c. 1900). This item, and much more, can be found at Traveling Man Treasures Curiosity Vault on NE Broadway in Portland.
