Martin Industries Sahara 25 dehumidifier 12”w x 17”l x 21”h 30lbs, approximate single fan speed analog controls (off - humidity controlled - continuous) 2.5 gallon tank capacity with drain fitting garden hose full tank cutoff, tested 9/27/25 Free dehumidifier for a basement. This is an old unit and its efficiency has not been assessed. The condenser coils are frosting during operation and a very small quantity of water is extracted during a 15 minute cycle. Frost also forms on the capillary tube, resulting in a chance accumulation of 1 tablespoon under the unit on each cycle. The humidifier was recently cleaned with a shop vac, but this did not improve airflow to the condenser coils. The thermal overload switch for the compressor does not seem to be functioning and the unit may fail to cut off when the compressor is hot to touch. In testing, the compressor heat shield reached 100F after 25 minutes operation with the cabinet in place and front vent removed. Frost was still present on the coils at the conclusion of the test. The unit was connected to an outlet timer to control cycle length. The noise from this unit is comparable to a refrigerator. The foot of the front vent is damaged and the plastic is brittle.
