Infrared Beacon IR Light Transmitters are self-contained, small, lightweight and extremely rugged devices designed to produce IR energy that is visible only through Night Vision Goggles or similar night vision devices. Invisible to the unaided eye Budd Lights can be detected with night vision devices at ranges greater than 5 Km (3 miles). The single LED configuration produces a steady on IR light. Uses: Helicopter landing zone designation Route marking Perimeter designation and intrusion alert Identification friend or foe Search & rescue Covert signalling Convoy formation Operation. It operates with a standard 9V alkaline battery. Once connected the Budd Light will emit IR light at a constant rate. Removal of the battery will cease operation of the light and is recommended when operation is not required. Prolonged use of the same battery results in reduced detection range
