I bought a load of sugar maple wood chunks yesterday—very large chunks, some look even like firewood or splits, and I've got only two bags of them for you where sizes are either too big or too odd for me. They came from a very large sugar maple tree that was just cut last week, so many of the chunks are substantial and some are almost the size of short splits. As such, they're perfect for offset smokers, but for smoking with smaller smokers, some will need further cutting/shaping. I have two nearly full 33-gallon Hefty bags of them, each weighing about 50 pounds. If you bought them at Home Depot, you'd pay $11.00 for a very small bag that weighs about two pounds. Of course, that wood is already seasoned. My nearly 100-pound load is not, so you'll need to season it for about six months before you smoke meat with it--maybe even slightly longer. But, for simply firewood in a fire pit or fireplace, it makes no difference. Mine is less than 5% of Home Depot's price! Why pay full price? Search high and low but you will not find a better deal! Once these two bags are gone, there is no more!
