Description

THE SONG OF THE SLAVE ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAVURE HENRYK SIEMIRADSKI 1800S THE ORIGINAL PAINTING OF THE SONG OF THE SLAVE BY HENRIYK SIEMIRADSKI WAS PAINTED CIRCA 1875 AND EXHIBITED IN THE PARIS SALON AROUND THE SAME TIME. SHORTLY AFTER THIS PHOTOGRAVURE WAS CREATED. THIS ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAVURE REPRODUCED THE SONG OF THE SLAVE. THE WORK DEPICTS A POIGNANT SCENE OF A SLAVE MUSICIAN, IMMERSED IN PLAYING A LYRE. THE ARTIST CAPTURES BOTH THE EMOTIONAL INTENSITY OF THE FIGURE AND THE LUXURIOUS, HISTORICALLY INSPIRED ENVIRONMENT TYPICAL OF HIS ACADEMIC STYLE. THE DIMENSIONS ARE 11 3/4” X 17” I FOUND THIS ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAVURE IN AN OLD ATTIC IN THE LATE 1970S. THIS HOME WAS BUILT IN THE 1700S IN CONNECTICUT. THIS WAS IN A SECTION OF THE ATTIC THAT HADN'T BEEN EXPLORED IN YEARS. VERY GOOD FOR ITS AGE. THERE ARE IMPERFECTIONS LIKE SPOTTING. THE ACTUAL PHOTOGRAVURE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THIS WOULD LOOK ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL WHEN FRAMED. 21
