Beautiful 2 piece antique Spanish chinoiserie secretary writing desk. Desk features lower chest with 4 drawers (2 small drawers above 2 larger drawers) for storage, pull down lid for writing in mid-section, and a double tombstone top with 2 doors. Mid-section (desk) opens to smaller shelving and size small drawers. Desk features laquered wood with hand-painted scenes from Chinese figures and Asian landscapes, horses and birds, floral and fauna motifs. Inner doors and desktop feature white floral motif. The secretary was a popular piece of furniture in Europe, known for its functionality as both a writing desk and a storage unit for documents, books, and stationary.
