Description

1983 Mitsubishi Starion Turbo Narrow-Body - Car Very early production car, (101st Starion ever made) serial number 00101 built June 1982 (as a 1983 model) Built the first week of first month of first year of production. One of the earliest examples of a Starion in the world. This one is factory black with original factory rear window louvers and hood scoop, just like the one Jackie Chan drove in CannonBall Run II. Same car was also used in '80s Inpsector Gadget cartoon (when his van turned into a sports car). This car cost more than a brand new Camaro or Mustang GT back in 1983, it was a beautiful sleek sexy body with high-performance drivetrane, a car built for auto enthusiets that love driving. Thisone has its full original drivetrane with only 120k miles. Pre-Evo 2.5 liter fuel injected turbo 4 cylinder, 5 speed manual transmission, RWD with LSD rear, IRS, 4 wheel disc brakes, boost gauge, buckets, hood scoop, rear window louvers, and all factory. This one has 120k original miles. Super cool car, Mitsubishi's high water mark of car making. This car has only had 3 owners since new, including me. The Original owner has owned this car most of its life. Starions are beautiful cars, most of them rusted away and are long gone by now, making seeing a Starion a rare occurence. (Especially early narrow-body examples like this, they are very hard to find in any shape. In the last few years of looking them up online, I have only seen 3 narrow bodys for sale. All were sold in the $30k range, 2 of the 3 were over-seas. Narrow-body examples with the hood scoop like this one are much harder to find than a widebody. I have driven this car a handful of times over the last few years I have owned it, but it mainly just sits in the garage. I bought it off a gentleman that went to the same church as the original owner, who owned this car somewhere around 35 years. That second owner had only had it a few years when I saw it in his driveway, on a dead-end street no one drives down, and I went up and knocked on the door, left messages, and kept talking to the owner over the phone until I was invited up to see the car in person, where I ended up buying it and bringing it home. Im a live-long car guy and already was involved fixing up other cars, so I just parked this one in my personal home garage, till I could get time to play with it. Most I have done was drove it down the street and back a couple times a year, it usually just sits in my house garage in storage collecting dust. Life changed my plans, and I have decided to sell my Starion to a new owner/ caretaker. This car turns over but did not start last time I went to move it. My wife moved it out of the garage back in October 2023 when I was out of town and she was re-doing our basement and wanted to use the garage as a work-area, She started the car and backed it out of the garage, turned car off but left fuel pump switch on, eventually burning up the fuel pump. Car turns over but does not start now. Motor Transmission and Rear Diff. were all in good shape, and I have personally driven it several times to know what, but currently I dont know what TLC it will need, I haven't had the time to fix it or mess with it. I had already had plans to ship this car and another from my home in Missouri out to California for my buddy to sell for me, so I just ended up shipping the car as it sat. By the time I got back into town and found out, I didn't have the time to mess with/ fix car before the shipper picked it up. It will need some work, but has a good motor, trans, rear, ect... Car needs normal TLC for a car that sat in storage for years, and also the repair from the fuel pump switch being left on. Car does not currently drive, and will need to be towed to the new owner's home to be repaired. Nice original interior, seats showing some minor wear but still great shape for a car built 41 years ago. Car has several rock-chips/ wear on the paint and it would really benefit from a new paint job. Solid frame and floors, minor rust in quarters and fenders where factory splash guards were attached. (All 4 original splash guards are included with the car) Interior and Exterior not perfect, it is a 40+ year old used car, but it's what you would expect from a mostly 1 owner well cared for original car that was loved. Excellent patina, you can see the original pen-stripes and decals, has the rare FACTORY rear window louvers (just like the one in CannonBall Run II) and pop-up headlights that can be left up or down whether lights are on or not. Nice Gauge cluster with all gauges seeming to work from what I can remember, though I don't remember if the gas gauge was working or not. Has factory boost gauge, and it works. Original odometer, showing 120,964 original miles. Super Rare / Super Cool Japan 80s Era Turbo Legend, very cool car worth fixing up.
