New 27” Drilled and pre plumbed basalt column. Comes with new 800 GPH Mag Drive Pump, tubing and black polished rocks. This particular water feature will require a reservoir and/or liner. Basalt fountains are unique, natural, and beautiful additions to any type of landscape project. If you are looking for a truly eye-catching fountain, you are sure to impress with a basalt fountain. Basalt is a volcanic rock and one of the most common types of rock in the world. Although basalt is common, it is rare to find the long, solid columns of basalt that we use for our products. In Washington state, there are large areas where ancient lava flows cooled at a relatively rapid rate, forcing the lava to contract. This rapid cooling and contraction caused horizontal fracturing, creating unique 5 and 6 sided basalt columns. The skin or crust on the outside of the columns has a patina ranging from beige to red to black and will often contain a multitude of colors. The inside of basalt is black and polishes up to a rich luster. It is a dense, crystalline material, weighing in at 188 pounds per cubic foot, about 10% heavier than granite.
