Description

The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States. It was first released by the United States Mint on November 24, 1986. It is struck in .999 fine silver and has a face value of one dollar. The design on the obverse (front) of the coin features Adolph A. Weinman's "Walking Liberty" design, which was originally used on the half-dollar from 1916 to 1947. The reverse (back) of the coin features an eagle with a shield, designed by John Mercanti. American Silver Eagles are popular among collectors and investors for their silver content and iconic design.
