Champagne Fig Plant in 2 gal. Pot

This is a well-established “LSU Champagne” fig, one of only 6 officially released varieties coming out of the Louisiana State University fig breeding program. It’s also known as “Golden Celeste”. This is a fast growing honey fig variety that produces delicious yellow figs with an amber to red pulp and a honey-like melon flavor. This variety is self-fertile and does NOT require pollination. I have ONLY ONE PLANT LEFT: this well-established plant is already about 3 ft tall and comes in a 2 gallon pot with optimal, high porosity soil, and western red cedar mulch on top (which keeps the insects away and limits evaporation in the summer). This plant already produced some figs at the end of this season, so will produce figs next summer! You can plant directly in ground, or grow in a (10 gal or more) container on your terrace, balcony. or garden indefinitely. This variety grows well but you can keep it as small as you like (I keep my trees down to about 8 ft max, so I can easily pick fruit without having to use a ladder) by pruning in the late autumn/early spring. The tree is still growing but will go dormant for the winter soon. This is the ideal time to plant!
